CUKR card: apply before 4 March 2027

The CUKR card lets Ukrainian citizens with UKR status switch to temporary residence for 3 years, without depending on an employer. Applications can only be filed until 4 March 2027. Our help costs 700 zł.

Who can apply

  • Ukrainian citizens whose UKR status has been valid continuously for at least 365 days.
  • You must have had UKR status on 4 June 2025.
  • The whole family can apply.
  • It’s not for you if you already have a residence card or a decision has already been issued in another case: your status has already changed, and such an application will be refused.

We recommend a consultation before applying: we’ll check whether you qualify and whether another basis would be better in your case.

What the CUKR card gives you

  • Your legal stay becomes a 3-year temporary residence permit. You get a regular residence card (karta pobytu), not a temporary status.
  • Not tied to an employer: you can work and change jobs without losing the card.
  • Time on CUKR counts towards the period needed for EU long-term resident (permanent) status.
  • You can travel within the EU under the general rules for residence cards.

Good to know

The CUKR programme is new and still being refined: its conditions change more often than for regular residence cards. There are specific points for men — be sure to discuss them at a consultation before applying.

What we do

  • Check whether you qualify for CUKR and whether another basis would be better.
  • Prepare the application and file it before the deadline.
  • Follow your case until you receive the card.

Questions

What happens if I miss the 4 March 2027 deadline?

After that date you can no longer apply for CUKR. Other options remain, such as a work-based card, but they cost more, take longer and are tied to an employer.

Can the whole family apply?

Yes. Families get 20% off our work.

I already have a residence card application in progress. Do I need CUKR?

Not necessarily, but sometimes it’s the better option. As long as no decision has been issued in your case and you’ve held UKR status continuously, you can close the current case and apply for CUKR. But if the decision has already been signed — even if you haven’t received it yet — your status has changed and CUKR is no longer available. So first we check what stage your case is at and tell you which option is better.
